PAUL, Minn. - For the first time since his sophomore season, one of the most prolific scorers in Northern Sun history, senior Craig Heiman, has been named the NSIC Player of the Week, sharing the honor with St. Cloud State's Matt Schneck. Heiman tied his career high in scoring with 36 points in a dramatic triple overtime win over Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday while scoring 56 points in CU's two games. Schneck countered with a 42 point, 26 rebound performance in two Husky wins against the same competition. This is the fourth time in his career that Heiman has been named the NSIC Player of the Week, earning it three times as a sophomore in 2007-08. Senior forward Craig Heiman (Marshall, Wis.) continued to live up to his billing as one of the top scorers in league history, going off for 36 points including 20 in the overtime periods to lead Concordia to a 109-104 win over Southwest Minnesota State in three overtimes. It was his fifth career 30-point performance and tied his career high from his sophomore season. With 20 points against #4 Minnesota State in a hard fought loss on Friday night, Heiman's 56 point weekend vaults him to fourth on the NSIC's career scoring list with 1,166 points, just one point shy of third with three NSIC games to play. In the SMSU win, Heiman couldn't be stopped, hitting from the paint, three-point range and the foul line. He shot 10-19 from the floor and 13-15 at the foul line while sinking three 3-pointers. He also had six rebounds and four assists with just one turnover in 45 intense minutes. Against the Mavericks, Heiman buried six 3-pointers and knocked down nine for the weekend. His weekend shooting line was 50.0% (17-34) from the floor, 52.9% (9-17) from three and 86.7% (13-15) from the stripe all while averaging 28.0 points against the league's top defenses.
