Feb. 05 - ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University head baseball coach Mark "Lunch" McKenzie has announced his first schedule change of the season, dropping the Metrodome date on March 25, initially scheduled against UW-Osh Kosh, and adding a date on Monday, February 15 against St. Cloud State at Metrodome at 5:00 p.m. for a non-conference doubleheader. The Golden Bears are 1-1 on the season and now have eight scheduled games at Metrodome in February, with two more later in March.

Feb. 05 - MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Concordia University baseball team is learning valuable lessons early in the season. Two closely contended games against Northwestern College (Iowa) that were decided in each team's last at bat late on Thursday night at Metrodome. In game one, it was Concordia that was victorious, winning 7-6 with a bases loaded infield RBI grounder to second in a come from behind win. In game two, they surrendered a three run lead after four innings in a 5-4 loss. Sophomore shortstop Bryan Lippincott (Des Moines, Iowa) went 4-8 at the plate in the two games with two triples, three runs and three RBI to lead the squad. GAME 1 BOX - GAME 2 BOX

Feb. 04 - ST. PAUL, Minn. - Although the Minnesota Twins moved out of the Metrodome over the holiday break, the stadium will continue to be utilized heavily by small college baseball. The Concordia University baseball team opens their slate of 10 schedule games at Metrodome this Thursday, February 4 with a doubleheader against Northwestern College (Iowa) with first pitch scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Concordia comes into the season with plenty of depth and youth and will be anxiously awaiting the challenge of replacing nearly two thirds of their innings and almost half of their at bats from a record breaking 2009 club that finished 35-18. Jan. 22 - ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) has released the 2010 NSIC Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll with Concordia being slated eighth by the 13 baseball coaches in the league. The 2009 Golden Bears finished with a 16-15 record and in eighth place, a half game ahead of ninth and just a game and a half out of the top-six for an NSIC Tournament selection. Jan. 20 - ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia sophomore left handed pitcher Cody Wilcoxson (Aurora, Colo.) has undertaken an assignment with Ping!Baseball to blog throughout the 2010 Golden Bear baseball season. Wilcoxson has already made a pair of blog postings, an introductory post in mid-December and his first post of the 2010 season was added this morning. On his blog, Cody provides some insight into Concordia's practice schedule the first week of the season along with a preview of the Gold Plate Baseball Banquet at Mancini's which will be held tonight. Wilcoxson is in his first year at Concordia, transferring in from the University of North Dakota, where he spent his freshman year pitching for the Division I Fighting Sioux. He'll continue to update his blog regularly throughout the season, with player and coach features and a behind-the-scenes look as life as a Division II student-athlete.
