Soccer- Golden Bears Unable to Crack Michigan Tech

Sep. 02Houghton, Mich. ? The Concordia University?s soccer team was unable to put the ball in the back of the net despite having more shots on goal then the Michigan Tech Huskies. The Golden Bears fall to 0-1 on the season. It was the first win ever for the Huskies as 2010 marks the first year they have a women?s soccer program. CU was led offensively by Savannah Nolen who led the team with three shots on goal. In her first career start as keeper freshman Kayla Kuczaboski was able to stop three shots. Box Score

Volleyball- Concordia Set to Open Season in Tampa

Sep. 02SAINT PAUL, Minn. ? The three time defending National Champion Golden Bears volleyball team is set to begin their run at a fourth straight National Title. Concordia brings a 74 match winning streak into the 2010 season. The Bears start the season in Florida for the second straight year. The title defense starts on Friday morning at 10:15 against Northern Kentucky University followed by a match against Grand Valley State at 2:45. Concordia will also have matches on Saturday against #5 Central Missouri and #3 Tampa.

Soccer- Golden Bear Soccer Ready to Hit the Pitch

Sep. 01 – SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia University soccer team is ready to start their season off on the right foot this Thursday, as they will travel to Houghton, Michigan to take on Michigan Tech. It is the first game for the newly formed Michigan Tech soccer team. It will be the first of two games in Michigan for the Bears in the opening week. On Saturday, CU will face off against Northern Michigan.

Athletics- Weekly Fall Coaches Show to Launch Thursday Evening

Sep. 01MSBN LogoST. PAUL, Minn. - This fall, the Concordia athletic department will be launching an audio Coaches Show through CU's online home, www.mnsportsnetwork.com (MSBN). The fall season debut will air Thursday, September 2 at 8:00 p.m. on MSBN Channel 7. The moderator is voice of the Golden Bears, Dan Flanagan, who also produces the program. The first installment of the program features head football coach Mark Mauer and head men's & women's cross country coach Jonathan Breitbarth. As the season unfolds, expect each of Concordia's five fall coaches to make their way onto the program on a regular basis, as well as potential interviews with student-athletes and audio highlights from broadcasted action! Football- Tailgate with Concordia's C-Club at Sea Foam Stadium for All 6 Home Football Games!

Aug. 30 – ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University's "C-Club" will be hosting a tailgate tent two hours prior to kickoff at each home football game at Sea Foam Stadium during the 2010 season. This designated C-Club area will include: food, beverages, and a place for all Golden Bear fans to gather prior to each game. Each C-Club member will receive a discount on the food and beverage but everyone is welcome. The tent is located on the south side of Sea Foam Stadium and will be open at 11:00 a.m. this Saturday, September 4 when CU hosts Minot State. Volleyball- Golden Bears Ready to Defend Title

Aug. 27 – SAINT PAUL, Minn. - As August comes to a close, volleyball is just picking up inside the Ganglehoff center. The Concordia Golden Bears volleyball team is preparing for another successful season under eighth year head coach Brady Starkey. Starkey has guided the Golden Bears to three consecutive national titles and a winning streak of 74 matches in a row. Yet, that is not the focus as the team prepares to head on the road September 3rd to kick off their season.

Football- Season Preview Part 3: Powerful Offense Starts Up-Front

Aug. 26 – ST. PAUL, Minn. - The third of a four-part season preview of 2010 Golden Bear football showcases the offense. Armed with an abundance of returners, Concordia is banking on an offensive line that has developed into a veteran dominated unit to push defenses back off the line of scrimmage. Not only is the offensive line back and better, but everyone will be back for the 2011 season, giving them a two year window to assert their improved physicality. Oh, and the weapons are all back, too, helping to make the offense the most improved part of this team. READ PART 3
