CU Softball Routs Opponents For 2 More Wins
Mar. 08 - ORLANDO, Fla. - The Concordia University softball team improved to 6-4 on the season with two wins posted today at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Florida. The squad pulled out a 3-2 win over Northern Kentucky in eight innings and followed up with a 4-2 win over #15 California University of Pennsylvania. The squad has gone 5-1 so far on its spring break trip with eight more games on slate before they return to Minnesota. NKU BOX SCORE - CAL PA BOX SCORE
Big Hitting Tabs Two More Wins
Mar. 07 - ORLANDO, Fla. - Concordia University's softball team used big swings to go 2-0 on the day at the Rebel Spring Games, defeating Lock Haven and Clarion University to even out at 4-4 on the year. A Calli Brennan walk-off three-run home run ended the first game of the day with a 5-2 win, while a whopping 15 hits in the second game brought on a 9-1 victory. LHU BOX SCORE - CU BOX SCORE
Hits A-Plenty, Golden Bear Softball Team Puts Up 11-1 Win
Mar. 07 - ORLANDO, Fla. - It was a hitting spree for the Golden Bear softball team in a short-lived game in the sun against Lake Superior State on Saturday. The squad knocked around 13 hits before ending the game in five innings with an 11-1 win. Eight extra base hits came off of CU bats, even pitcher-by-day Stephanie Schmikla got in on the action, stepping in for a pinch hitting appearance and knocking out a two-RBI double! The Golden Bears went 1-1 on their first day of Rebel Spring Games, dropping a 5-1 decision to #13 Saginaw Valley State earlier in the day. They continue play in Orlando all week long. Schmikla No-Hitter Gains NSIC Recognition
Mar. 02 - ST. PAUL, Minn. - With her first career no-hitter and the first one thrown in the NSIC this season, Concordia's Stephanie Schmikla has gained the NSIC Pitcher of the Week honor, announced today by the NSIC office. Schmikla's dominance came against a very strong Minnesota State squad on Friday morning and resulted in a 5-0 win for the Golden Bears.
Schmikla Throws No-Hitter!
Feb. 26 - ROSEMOUNT, Minn. - Concordia's Stephanie Schmikla broke a five year freeze in no-hitters thrown by a Golden Bear pitcher when she worked her way to a complete game win over Minnesota State on Friday morning. The junior's efforts helped the squad to a 5-0 victory over the Mavericks. The last time that CU saw a complete no-hitter thrown was when current assistant coach Kristen Schmidt toed the rubber in 2005, putting two no-no's in the books that year.
